Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, along with 4+ years of experience in backend development. Your expertise includes backend coding languages such as C++, Python, and Java, and you have a solid understanding of designing distributed systems. You possess strong collaboration and communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with cross-functional teams. You have professional experience developing modern C++ production software and are familiar with Google infrastructure, which enhances your ability to contribute to the team.

Desirable

While not required, familiarity with Google infrastructure (e.g., Borg, Protocol Buffers) is preferred, as it will help you integrate seamlessly into the Waymo environment. Your experience in building mission-critical tools and systems will be a significant asset as you tackle novel problems in a fast-paced setting.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design, develop, test, and maintain C++ software systems that support the real-world intervention and recovery of Waymo vehicles. You will build and evolve mission-critical tools and systems that allow Waymo to scale and serve new markets effectively. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with Product, UX, and other engineering teams to develop systems and processes that adapt to business needs as they grow and evolve. You will ship solutions to unique challenges that arise, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the Waymo Driver.

What we offer

Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $204,000—$259,000 USD, along with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus program and an equity incentive plan. You will also benefit from a generous company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
