Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, particularly with cloud-based architectures. You understand the intricacies of building scalable systems that can handle millions of requests daily, and you have a strong grasp of containerization and serverless technologies.
Your expertise includes working with AWS and Kubernetes, and you are familiar with Infrastructure as Code practices. You have experience in deploying and managing applications in a cloud environment, ensuring they are secure and efficient.
You are comfortable writing code for various infrastructure components, from network management to database provisioning. Your background includes using tools like ArgoCD, Prometheus, and Grafana for monitoring and managing cloud resources.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. You are proactive in identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices in cloud infrastructure management.
Desirable
Experience with modern CI/CD practices and tools is a plus. Familiarity with other cloud providers and technologies can enhance your contributions to the team.
What you'll do
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Nextdoor, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a globally scalable cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with other engineers to build, deploy, and manage the underlying architecture that supports the Nextdoor platform.
You will focus on scaling Kubernetes infrastructure, ensuring that it meets the demands of millions of active users. Your role will involve creating and managing dedicated clusters for application deployment, which will help maintain performance and reliability.
You will also modernize the Infrastructure as Code practices by leveraging tools like CDK and Pulumi to manage AWS resources effectively. Your contributions will directly impact the scalability and security of Nextdoor's services.
Collaboration with product and engineering teams will be key as you work to ensure that the infrastructure supports new features and enhancements. You will participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster a culture of learning and growth within the team.
