Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on PostgreSQL and AWS. Your expertise in database internals allows you to optimize performance and ensure reliability across various database platforms. You are familiar with modern practices such as DBOps, schema versioning, and infrastructure-as-code, which you leverage to enhance database operations.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with DevOps, SREs, and developers to streamline deployments and improve observability. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly makes you a valuable team member. You are passionate about building scalable data platforms that support engineering and analytics teams effectively.
Desirable
Experience with MongoDB and Redshift is a plus, as is familiarity with CI/CD practices for database management. You are always eager to learn and adapt to new technologies that can improve database performance and reliability.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the architecture and performance tuning of Nium's database platforms, primarily focusing on PostgreSQL hosted on AWS. You will implement modern database operations that support the engineering and analytics teams, ensuring that the infrastructure is robust and scalable. Your responsibilities will include optimizing database performance, managing schema changes, and implementing best practices for database security and reliability.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline deployment processes and enhance observability across the database systems. Your role will also involve mentoring junior DBAs and sharing your knowledge of database internals and modern practices. You will play a critical role in enabling automated and resilient database operations that align with Nium's mission to deliver cutting-edge payment solutions.
