You are comfortable making trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality, always aiming for the best outcomes.

Your experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes allows you to streamline deployment processes — you understand the importance of maintaining high availability and performance in production environments. You are proactive in identifying potential blockers and removing them early in the project lifecycle.

Experience with machine learning models and their deployment in production environments is a plus — you have a keen interest in AI technologies and their applications in real-world scenarios. What you'll do

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at OpenAI, you will own the technical delivery of multiple deployments, working closely with our most strategic customers — your role will involve scoping work, sequencing delivery, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and to specification. You will embed yourself within customer teams, understanding their unique challenges and guiding them through the adoption of the solutions you build.

You will contribute directly to the codebase when necessary, ensuring clarity and progress in your projects — your hands-on approach will help you navigate complex technical challenges and drive successful outcomes. You will also codify best practices into tools and playbooks that can be utilized by others in the organization, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities will include measuring production adoption and workflow impact, using eval-driven feedback to inform product and model roadmaps — you will collaborate with various teams, including Product, Research, and Security, to ensure that our deployments align with OpenAI's mission and standards.
