Overview
Optiver is seeking a Mid-Level Accountant to join their Finance team in Chicago. You'll be responsible for month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting. This role requires experience with IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a solid background in accounting with experience in preparing and maintaining month-end journal entries and close processes under IFRS and U.S. GAAP. Your analytical skills enable you to prepare reconciliations and tie-outs for balance sheet and income statement accounts effectively. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with FP&A, Procurement, and Accounts Payable to meet reporting objectives through sound invoice review.
Your expertise extends to managing cash activities, including the preparation of daily and monthly bank reconciliations. You are adept at maintaining support for fixed assets, leases, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts. You understand the importance of continuous improvement and are keen on utilizing automation and AI tooling to enhance finance team processes.
You are comfortable liaising with external auditors and preparing audit support throughout the year. Your proactive approach to problem-solving and critical thinking allows you to drive improvements within the finance team and P2P processes. You are a team player who enjoys supporting finance and other departments with ad-hoc projects as they arise.
Desirable
Experience with automation tools and AI in finance processes would be a plus. Familiarity with advanced accounting software and tools can enhance your effectiveness in this role.
What you'll do
As an Accountant at Optiver, you will play a crucial role in the Finance team by preparing and maintaining month-end journal entries and supporting the close processes. You will prepare reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and income statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS and U.S. GAAP standards. Your responsibilities will include preparing complex revenue and expense allocations between various entities and profit centers.
You will collaborate with FP&A, Procurement, and Accounts Payable to ensure that reporting objectives are met through thorough invoice reviews. Additionally, you will support cash activities by preparing daily and monthly bank reconciliations, maintaining records for fixed assets, leases, and prepaid expenses.
Your role will also involve working with the Finance and Middle Office teams to reconcile and report daily revenue and trading information. You will prepare technology and operating expense accruals and assist in the ongoing development, documentation, and testing of internal controls. Your contributions will drive continuous improvement within the finance team and P2P processes, focusing on critical thinking and automation.
You will prepare and maintain audit support throughout the year, liaising with external auditors as needed. Your ability to support the finance team and other departments with ad-hoc projects will be essential in this dynamic role.
What we offer
Optiver offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $88,000 USD, along with a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
