Job Description
Who you are
You have extensive experience as a Staff Software Engineer, particularly with a focus on full stack development — you understand both frontend and backend technologies and have a knack for creating seamless user experiences. Your expertise in JavaScript, React, and Node.js allows you to build robust applications that serve users effectively. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. Your leadership skills enable you to guide technical projects and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
You are comfortable with hybrid work environments, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. You have a strong understanding of the healthcare industry and are passionate about using technology to improve user interactions with healthcare systems. You are detail-oriented, ensuring that the applications you build are not only functional but also maintainable and scalable. You are proactive in identifying potential challenges and are adept at problem-solving, ensuring that projects stay on track and meet deadlines.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the planning, execution, and release of complex technical projects across multiple teams — you will own medium to large features or infrastructure projects from conception to deployment. Your responsibilities will include serving as the subject matter expert on both business and technical domains, ensuring that the solutions you develop align with Oscar's mission to simplify healthcare interactions. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to create applications that enhance user experience and meet the needs of both members and providers.
You will also be responsible for conducting code reviews, ensuring best practices are followed, and mentoring junior engineers to help them grow in their roles. Your ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders will be crucial as you translate technical requirements into actionable plans. You will participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall strategy of the engineering organization, helping to shape the future of Oscar's technology platform.
What we offer
Oscar provides a competitive salary range of $192,000 - $252,000 per year, along with comprehensive employee benefits. You will have the opportunity to participate in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, receive company equity grants, and be eligible for annual performance bonuses. The culture at Oscar emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to improving healthcare through technology. You will work in a supportive environment that values your contributions and encourages professional growth.
