Who you are

You have a strong background in machine learning and data engineering, with experience in designing and optimizing AI systems that automate document understanding. You are proficient in Python and have hands-on experience with frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch, enabling you to build scalable, production-grade models. Your understanding of natural language processing (NLP) allows you to tackle complex challenges in document intelligence, and you are comfortable working with large datasets to extract structured information.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with product, engineering, and design teams to define requirements and ship production AI features. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders makes you an effective team player. You are passionate about applying cutting-edge research to real-world problems and are eager to experiment with frontier models and technologies.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design, train, evaluate, and optimize machine learning models that transform unstructured documents into high-quality structured data. You will work across the full stack of model development, including datasets, training, inference, and deployment pipelines. Your contributions will directly power PandaDoc’s core AI capabilities, from layout detection and OCR to structured extraction and document-based reasoning.

You will tackle real-world ML challenges, focusing on model robustness, evaluation, latency, and observability. Your work will involve integrating vision-language systems and building efficient pipelines for inference and fine-tuning. You will have high ownership of your projects, influencing roadmap decisions and ensuring that the AI systems you develop perform reliably on millions of documents.
