You have a strong background in database management with at least 5 years of experience in database administration, particularly with MySQL. Your expertise extends to managing and optimizing databases like MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra, ensuring high availability and performance in production environments.

You are a hands-on leader who enjoys driving technical excellence and influencing best practices across teams. Your ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps and SRE, allows you to deliver secure and scalable database platforms that meet business needs.

You possess a deep understanding of database security, compliance frameworks, and operational efficiency. Your problem-solving skills enable you to tackle complex database challenges, ensuring data integrity and availability.

You are passionate about automation and AI-driven operations, designing self-healing scripts and proactive monitoring solutions to enhance database performance. Your leadership mindset allows you to mentor peers and define technical standards that elevate team performance.

Desirable

Experience with cloud database services on AWS, including RDS and Aurora, is a plus. Familiarity with database performance engineering techniques, such as query tuning and indexing, will further enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of MySQL databases in both production and staging environments, focusing on their availability, performance, and reliability. You will architect, manage, and support MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra clusters, ensuring they are resilient and scalable.

You will define and enforce backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies across all critical database platforms. Your responsibilities will include driving database performance engineering by tuning queries, optimizing schemas, and implementing indexing strategies for high-volume workloads.

You will own replication, clustering, and failover architectures to ensure business continuity. Collaborating closely with Cloud and DevOps teams, you will optimize cost, security, and performance of AWS database services.

Establishing monitoring dashboards and alerting mechanisms for slow queries, replication lag, and capacity planning will be key to your success. You will ensure compliance with security standards, including encryption and auditing, to protect sensitive data.
