You have a strong background in database administration, with hands-on experience managing and optimizing SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments. Your expertise in AWS RDS allows you to ensure database platforms are healthy, performant, secure, and scalable. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with engineering teams to provide operational expertise and performance guidance.

You are proactive in diagnosing problems and implementing solutions, taking ownership of the database environment and driving improvements. Your ability to analyze performance and optimize queries is complemented by your understanding of operational best practices in a multi-team engineering organization. You enjoy being a subject matter expert and are comfortable sharing your knowledge with others.

What you'll do

In this role, you will support a large, multi-team engineering organization, providing shared operational expertise as a Database Administrator. You will collaborate with existing DevOps teams to enhance platform reliability and observability, ensuring that database systems meet the needs of various applications. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include performance analysis, query optimization, and troubleshooting operational issues.

You will be actively involved in the design and development process, partnering with teams early to ensure that database considerations are integrated into application architecture. Your focus will be on maintaining the health and performance of database platforms while implementing proactive improvements to avoid reactive firefighting. You will also have the opportunity to drive changes end-to-end, minimizing barriers between identifying issues and implementing solutions.
