You are passionate about technology and its impact on user experience — you have a keen eye for performance optimization and correctness in software development. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly makes you an effective leader and mentor. You are comfortable working in an English-first environment and are open to learning new languages, such as French, to enhance team collaboration.
What you'll do
As the Head of Real-Time & Editing Engine, you will take full ownership of the Rust-based engine that powers Photoroom's live editing experience. You will lead the team in enhancing performance and ensuring the correctness of the engine, focusing on rendering, document models, synchronization, and collaborative editing features. Your role will involve making ambitious technical decisions that align with the company's growth objectives and user needs.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and design, to define the roadmap for the engine's evolution. Your leadership will guide the team in implementing best practices for software development, ensuring that the engine meets the high standards expected by both individual creators and enterprise clients. You will also be responsible for mentoring team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
What we offer
Photoroom provides a competitive salary of up to €150k, along with stock options and relocation support of up to €10k for France-based roles. We offer a fully remote-friendly work environment, allowing you to work within a 3-hour flight from Paris, with monthly visits fully reimbursed.
