PLACE is seeking a Mid-Level Mobile Engineer to develop and enhance features for their mobile applications. You'll work with React Native, Swift, and Kotlin to create user-friendly experiences. This role requires 3-5 years of experience in mobile application development.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 3-5 years of experience developing mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms — you've successfully built and enhanced features across various mobile applications, demonstrating a strong understanding of cross-platform development. Your expertise in React Native, TypeScript, and mobile development best practices allows you to create high-quality applications that serve thousands of daily users.
You are proficient in native iOS development using Swift and Objective-C, as well as Android development with Kotlin and Java — your ability to integrate native modules when required showcases your versatility in mobile engineering. You understand the importance of clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, and you follow best practices to ensure the reliability and performance of the applications you develop.
Collaboration is key for you — you work closely with engineering managers, product leadership, and design teams to translate requirements into technical specifications and mobile solutions. Your experience with tools like Figma enables you to implement mobile UI/UX designs effectively, ensuring a seamless user experience across platforms.
You are familiar with writing and maintaining unit tests for both iOS and Android applications — your knowledge of XCTest and JUnit/MockK helps you ensure the quality of your code. You are proactive in identifying areas of technical debt and proposing solutions to improve app reliability and performance, demonstrating your commitment to continuous improvement.
You participate in code reviews to share knowledge and ensure quality across the team — your clear communication skills allow you to engage effectively with stakeholders across product, QA, and design teams. You are comfortable using CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions to streamline your development process and enhance productivity.
Desirable
Experience with analytics, feature flags, and A/B testing is a plus — you understand how to leverage data to inform your development decisions and improve user engagement. Familiarity with building apps that incorporate live streaming or e-commerce capabilities would also be beneficial.
What you'll do
As a Mobile Engineer at PLACE, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications using React Native — your role will involve enhancing features across PLACE's portfolio of mobile applications, including Brivity Go, Brivity Home, and the Place Partner App. You will collaborate with the engineering manager to understand project scope, priorities, and deliverables, ensuring that you meet the needs of the business and its users.
You will work closely with product leadership to translate requirements into technical specifications and mobile solutions — your ability to partner with the design team will be crucial in implementing mobile UI/UX using Figma designs. You will write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, following mobile development best practices across both iOS and Android platforms.
Your responsibilities will also include writing and maintaining unit tests for iOS and Android applications, ensuring that your code is reliable and performs well. You will maintain existing codebases, fix bugs, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner, demonstrating your commitment to delivering high-quality software.
You will identify areas of technical debt and propose solutions for improving app reliability and performance — your proactive approach will help enhance the overall user experience. Participating in code reviews will be an essential part of your role, allowing you to share knowledge and ensure quality across the team.
