Who you are
You are an experienced quantitative researcher with 3-7 years of experience in alpha-driven quantitative research for various asset classes including equities, futures, and foreign exchange. You possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, enabling you to conduct independent research utilizing large datasets effectively. Your educational background includes an MS or PhD in finance, computer science, mathematics, physics, or another quantitative discipline, which has equipped you with the necessary technical skills and a passion for problem-solving in financial markets.
You have a demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of the research process, including methodology selection, data collection and analysis, testing, prototyping, backtesting, and performance monitoring. Your curiosity about financial markets and human behavior drives your research, and you thrive in environments where you can collaborate with experienced portfolio managers and researchers. You are eager to share your insights and learn from others, making you a valuable team member.
Desirable
While not mandatory, candidates with experience in related fields or those transitioning from academia are encouraged to apply. You may have worked on specific engineering or data projects outside of school, showcasing your ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings. Your diverse background, whether in statistics, engineering, or other quantitative disciplines, adds to the richness of the team.
What you'll do
As a Cubist Quantitative Researcher at Point72, you will be responsible for independently conducting quantitative finance research, focusing on statistical and predictive models. You will manage the entire research process, from selecting methodologies to analyzing data and monitoring performance. Your role will involve collaborating with a large team of experienced portfolio managers and researchers, allowing you to leverage their insights while contributing your unique perspective.
You will utilize programming languages such as C++, Java, C#, MATLAB, R, Python, or Perl to analyze large datasets and develop models that identify market anomalies. Your research will directly impact the systematic, computer-driven trading strategies deployed across multiple liquid asset classes. You will be expected to prototype and backtest your models, ensuring they are robust and effective in real-world scenarios.
Your work will not only involve technical skills but also require you to communicate your findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
