Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in mechanical engineering with a focus on avionics systems — your experience includes leading teams in the design, testing, and implementation of complex mechanical systems. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all aspects of the avionics systems are integrated seamlessly into the overall vehicle design.

Your technical expertise in mechanical design principles is complemented by your ability to solve problems creatively — you enjoy tackling challenges that require innovative thinking and a hands-on approach. You have a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, demonstrating your strong project management skills.

You are passionate about aerospace engineering and have a deep understanding of the full lifecycle of avionics systems — from initial concept through to production and testing. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders ensures that everyone is aligned and informed throughout the project.

Desirable

Experience with rocket systems or aerospace applications is a plus — you understand the unique challenges and requirements of working in this field. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to avionics design will help you navigate the complexities of the role.

What you'll do

As the Manager of Avionics Mechanical Design Engineering, you will lead a team responsible for the design and development of the avionics systems for the Terran R rocket. You will oversee the full lifecycle of the avionics systems, ensuring that they meet all performance and safety requirements. Your role will involve collaborating with propulsion, manufacturing, and software teams to integrate avionics systems into the overall vehicle design.

You will be responsible for setting project goals and timelines, managing resources, and ensuring that your team has the support they need to succeed. Your leadership will foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging team members to share ideas and take ownership of their work.

In addition to technical leadership, you will also play a key role in mentoring and developing your team — you will provide guidance and support to help them grow in their careers and enhance their skills. You will conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure that everyone is aligned with the team's objectives.
