Overview

Saronic is hiring a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Fluid & Propulsion Systems to develop state-of-the-art solutions for autonomous surface vessels. You'll be responsible for designing and integrating fluid systems, ensuring efficiency and reliability in marine environments.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in mechanical engineering with a focus on fluid and propulsion systems — your expertise allows you to own projects from cradle to production, ensuring that every component meets the highest standards of efficiency and reliability. You are skilled in architecting and sizing various fluid systems, including fuel, oil, and coolant systems, and you understand the intricacies of mechanical integration in marine environments.

Your experience includes performing powerplant trade studies and pipe/tube routing, which enables you to make informed decisions about system design and component selection. You are adept at sizing, selecting, and integrating critical components such as pumps, valves, fittings, thrusters, gearboxes, and shafting, ensuring that all elements work harmoniously together.

You are detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of fluid interactions and propulsion performance, particularly in the context of autonomous vessels. Your ability to analyze and optimize these systems contributes significantly to the overall safety and reliability of maritime operations.

Desirable

Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus, as it allows you to create detailed designs and simulations of fluid systems. Familiarity with marine engineering principles and standards will further enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will take ownership of fluid and propulsion systems for our autonomous surface vessels, guiding projects from initial design through to production. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all systems are integrated seamlessly and function as intended in real-world marine environments.

Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough analyses of fluid interactions and propulsion performance, allowing you to make data-driven decisions that enhance system efficiency. You will also be involved in mechanical integration tasks, ensuring that all components are correctly installed and function together effectively.

You will perform powerplant trade studies to evaluate different configurations and components, helping to identify the best solutions for our vessels. Your work will directly impact the safety and reliability of our autonomous systems, making your role crucial to the success of our projects.

What we offer

At Saronic, we are committed to revolutionizing autonomy at sea, and you will be part of a team that is dedicated to innovation and excellence. We offer a collaborative work environment where your contributions will be valued and recognized. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that enhances maritime operations, making a real difference in the industry.

We provide competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. Join us in our mission to create intelligent platforms that transform the future of maritime operations.
