Who you are
You have extensive experience in the Japanese market, particularly in equities trading, which allows you to navigate the complexities of this unique financial landscape. Your fluency in both Japanese and English enables you to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, ensuring that you can bridge any gaps between teams and clients. You are committed to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards in all your trading activities, understanding the importance of trust in this industry.
Your background includes a deep understanding of broker-sponsored algorithms, dark pools, and direct market access (DMA) facilities, which are crucial for executing trades efficiently. You have a proven track record of collaborating with multiple portfolio managers, providing them with valuable market insights and trading ideas that enhance their decision-making processes. Your familiarity with trading technology, execution management systems, and order management systems ensures that you can leverage the best tools available to optimize trading performance.
You are proactive in managing broker relationships, providing constructive feedback to execution counterparties, and ensuring that the trading desk consistently delivers best execution service to portfolio managers. Your ability to understand day-to-day risk, regulatory, and compliance issues associated with trading in Japan is essential for maintaining operational integrity and minimizing potential pitfalls.

What you'll do
In this role, you will maintain best practice execution on all trades, ensuring that the desk is always providing the highest level of service to portfolio managers. You will proactively collaborate with portfolio managers to share market color, portfolio performance summaries, and innovative trading ideas that can drive success. Your insights will be instrumental in shaping trading strategies and enhancing overall portfolio performance.
You will manage communication and trading needs of US and European portfolio managers with the Japanese market, ensuring that they are well-informed and equipped to make strategic decisions. Your expertise will help facilitate smooth operations across different time zones and cultural contexts, fostering strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Understanding the operational and technological issues associated with the Asia Trading desk will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will work closely with operations and technology teams to address any challenges that arise, ensuring that trading processes are efficient and effective. Your role will also involve managing broker relationships, providing feedback to execution counterparties, and ensuring that all trades are executed in compliance with regulatory standards.
