SFMOMA is hiring a Director of Membership to lead member acquisition and renewal strategies. You'll work to grow the museum's community and revenue through data-driven engagement. This role requires a human-centered approach to connect with art lovers.

You have a strong background in membership or community engagement, ideally within a cultural or nonprofit organization. Your experience includes developing and executing strategies for member acquisition and retention, ensuring a vibrant community of supporters. You understand the importance of creating value propositions that resonate with diverse audiences, and you are skilled in using data to inform your decisions. Your leadership style is inclusive and collaborative, fostering a sense of belonging among team members and stakeholders.
You are passionate about the arts and understand how they can connect people and communities. You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to effectively convey the museum's mission and engage with potential members. Your ability to think creatively and strategically enables you to develop innovative marketing campaigns that drive engagement and revenue. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a focus on long-term goals.
What you'll do
As the Director of Membership, you will lead the strategy for member acquisition and renewal, aiming to grow SFMOMA's community of over 42,000 households. You will manage marketing efforts that drive awareness and engagement, ensuring that campaigns align with the museum's brand messaging and revenue goals. Collaborating closely with the Visitor Experience department, you will oversee the execution of strategic campaigns that enhance onsite member operations and ensure a seamless experience for all members.
You will analyze data to assess the effectiveness of membership initiatives and make informed decisions to optimize engagement strategies. Your role will involve creating and implementing innovative outreach programs that connect with art lovers and encourage them to join the museum community. You will also work with various departments to ensure that membership remains a priority across the organization, fostering a culture of collaboration and shared goals.
