What you'll do

As a Technical Lead at Smarkets, you will be responsible for overseeing the engineering team that develops and maintains the core functionalities of our betting exchange platform. You will lead the design and implementation of distributed systems that handle significant trading volumes, ensuring they are responsive and scalable.

You will collaborate with product managers to define the technical requirements for new features and enhancements, translating business needs into actionable engineering tasks. Your role will involve conducting code reviews, providing feedback, and ensuring best practices are followed throughout the development process.

In addition to technical leadership, you will play a key role in mentoring and developing your team members — you will help them set career goals and provide guidance on their professional development. You will also be involved in hiring new talent to strengthen the team.
