Overview

Snowflake is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the evolution of their SQL Query Language. You'll define the vision and roadmap for Snowflake SQL, collaborating closely with developers and analysts. This role requires a strong background in product management and a passion for SQL.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in product management, ideally with a focus on analytics or database technologies — you understand the intricacies of SQL and its impact on user experience. You are a strategic thinker who can define a product vision and execute it with precision, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and engaged throughout the process.

Your expertise in SQL is not just theoretical; you have hands-on experience working with SQL in various contexts, which allows you to empathize with users and developers alike. You are comfortable collaborating with engineers and analysts, translating complex technical concepts into actionable product features that delight users.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment where innovation is key — you are not afraid to challenge the status quo and push for improvements that enhance the SQL language and its usability. Your strong communication skills enable you to articulate your ideas clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

You are results-driven and possess a keen analytical mindset — you leverage data to inform your decisions and measure the success of your initiatives. You are passionate about creating a seamless developer experience and are always looking for ways to enhance the capabilities of SQL.

Desirable

Experience with product development in cloud-based environments or analytics platforms would be a plus. Familiarity with user research methodologies and A/B testing can help you refine product features based on user feedback.

What you'll do

As the Senior Product Manager for Snowflake's SQL Query Language, you will be the single-threaded owner of the product lifecycle, responsible for defining the future vision of SQL at Snowflake. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the development of new SQL constructs and features aligns with user needs and business goals.

You will lead the roadmap planning process, prioritizing initiatives based on user feedback, market trends, and technical feasibility. Your role will involve conducting user research to gather insights that will inform the evolution of SQL, ensuring that it remains a powerful and elegant tool for developers and analysts.

You will collaborate with language engineers to introduce new capabilities and refinements to SQL, enhancing its expressiveness and usability. Your ability to communicate effectively with technical teams will be crucial in guiding the execution of product initiatives and ensuring that all dependencies are managed effectively.

You will also be responsible for defining success metrics for SQL features and tracking their performance post-launch. Your analytical skills will help you assess the impact of changes and iterate on features to continuously improve the user experience.

At Snowflake, you will be part of a culture that values innovation and collaboration. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will have the chance to work on a product that is foundational to our customers' success, making a significant impact in the analytics space. Join us in shaping the future of SQL and empowering enterprises to achieve their full potential.
