You have a background in mechanical engineering with a focus on manufacturing processes — you've developed tooling and production systems that enhance efficiency and quality. Your experience includes working with automation and robotics, allowing you to streamline production workflows effectively. You are proficient in AutoCAD and have a solid understanding of AWS and Linux environments, which you leverage to optimize manufacturing processes. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with design engineering and technician teams to implement meaningful changes that improve manufacturability and design reliability. Your analytical skills enable you to question requirements and simplify processes, ensuring that production is both efficient and effective. You are detail-oriented and committed to quality, always seeking ways to minimize errors and cycle times in hardware production.
What you'll do
As a Build Engineer on the Super Heavy Booster team, you will be responsible for developing and performing acceptance testing of manufacturing processes and tools — your work will enable efficient and high-rate manufacturing of subassemblies for the world's most powerful rocket. You will design and implement precision tooling aimed at eliminating assembly errors and improving overall quality. Your role will involve questioning existing requirements and processes, simplifying and optimizing them to accelerate production. You will also develop and automate in-situ inspection techniques to increase yield and decrease cycle times. Collaborating with various stakeholders, you will manage the transition of manufacturing projects from design to implementation, ensuring that all systems are aligned with the overall vehicle architecture. Your contributions will directly impact the production capabilities of SpaceX, helping to pave the way for future space exploration.
