Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer (Composite Lamination) to develop and implement best practices for composite lamination. You'll work with NX/Unigraphics and Teamcenter to enhance production processes. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering and 1+ years of hands-on experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and have at least 1 year of hands-on experience driving the design or manufacturing of mechanical components or systems. Your background includes advanced composites manufacturing experience, particularly with 'out of autoclave' prepreg systems, which gives you a solid foundation in the field. You are familiar with NX/Unigraphics and Teamcenter CAD and PDM systems, which are essential for component design and management. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including design, build, and reliability engineers, to ensure efficient production processes.

What you'll do

As a Manufacturing Engineer (Composite Lamination) at SpaceX, you will develop and implement best practices for composite lamination, focusing on generating content with Fibersim and addressing manufacturing defects. You will oversee complex laminate repairs and introduce new technologies to improve parts processing. Your role will involve collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to efficiently build parts on schedule, revising production processes, procedures, equipment, tooling, and layout for Falcon and/or Dragon laminates. You will support design for manufacturing and assembly during new product development cycles, facilitating the production of flight-qualified composite structures while driving an increasing production rate and reducing costs. Additionally, you will resolve complex manufacturing defects and work to eliminate their root causes, ensuring high-quality outputs in line with SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a pioneering team dedicated to advancing space exploration. We offer a dynamic work environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will directly impact our mission. You will have opportunities for professional growth and development, working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry. We believe in fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence, where every team member plays a crucial role in our success.
