Job Description
Who you are
You possess a solid mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience in a manufacturing or production environment — your background includes working with thin-walled tubing and various metals such as Inconel, titanium, aluminum, nickel, and stainless steel. You are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies, particularly in CNC bending operations. Your attention to detail ensures that you work to close tolerances and maintain high-quality standards in your work.
You have experience with CNC bending machines and control systems, preferably with brands like Crippa, BLM, or Horn. Your ability to coordinate activities with technicians and support functions allows you to effectively manage tube bending operations from prep to inspection. You are proactive in solving tube fitment issues and documenting changes for further development work.
What you'll do
As a Tube Bender on the SpaceX sheet metal technician team, you will be responsible for the successful fabrication of precision tube assemblies that support the Starship vehicle. You will set up, operate, and supervise the operation of all tube-bending equipment, ensuring that all processes are executed efficiently and accurately. You will work closely with engineering teams to prove out designs to blueprint with minimal fixtures and short schedules, contributing to the overall success of the projects.
Your role will involve developing and managing actions to improve both quality and productivity within the tube bending operations. You will coordinate with other technicians and support functions to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to project timelines. Your hands-on experience and mechanical knowledge will be crucial in troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise during the tube bending process.
What we offer
At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploring the stars. We offer a dynamic work environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of space exploration.
