Overview
SpaceX is hiring a TIG Welder to build the primary airframe of the Starship and Super Heavy vehicles. You'll collaborate with a team of fabricators and technicians to ensure efficient assembly and fabrication. This role requires expertise in welding and fabrication processes.
Job Description
Who you are
You have experience in welding and fabrication, particularly with GTAW class A welds, and are skilled in cutting, trimming, fitting, and assembling metal components to precise dimensions. You understand the importance of collaborating with lead welders to assess the proper weld procedures, material types, and rod sizes for each project. Your ability to analyze engineering drawings and specifications allows you to plan welding operations effectively, even when procedural information is not readily available.
You are committed to continuous improvement in operations, always looking for ways to decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working cooperatively with your team to achieve build efficiency. Your strong communication skills enable you to effectively interact with management, engineering staff, and planners, ensuring that all aspects of the welding process are executed smoothly.
What you'll do
As a TIG Welder at SpaceX, you will be responsible for the assembly and fabrication of various small to large-scale structures and assemblies for the Starship and Super Heavy vehicles. You will work closely with an elite team of fabricators and technicians, contributing to the rapid construction of the tank and other large associated structures. Your role will involve performing GTAW class A welds and ensuring that all welding projects meet the required specifications and quality standards.
You will analyze engineering drawings to plan your welding operations, making adjustments as necessary to accommodate any challenges that arise. Your focus on efficiency will drive you to continuously seek improvements in the welding process, helping to reduce turnaround times and enhance overall productivity.
