You possess a combination of expert mechanical knowledge and extensive hands-on experience in tube bending, with a proven track record of leadership in high-pressure environments. As a senior tube bender, you are committed to continuous learning and mentoring junior technicians, fostering a culture of excellence within your team. Your ability to optimize processes for scalability while ensuring compliance with aerospace standards sets you apart in this role.
You have a strong understanding of advanced tube-bending equipment and the intricacies involved in setup, operation, and troubleshooting. Your experience allows you to adhere to ultra-tight tolerances and high-volume production demands, making you a key player in the fabrication of complex, precision tube assemblies critical to the Starship vehicle. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineering teams to prove out designs and solve fitment issues efficiently.
Your leadership skills shine as you mentor and train technicians on best practices and safety protocols, ensuring that your team operates at the highest standards. You are proactive in developing and managing actions to improve both quality and productivity, driving continuous improvement in all tube bending operations across teams.
Desirable
Experience with CNC bending and orbital tube welding (OTW) is a plus, as is familiarity with aerospace standards and practices. Your ability to document changes for further development work will contribute to the ongoing success of the team.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead and coordinate all tube bending operations, overseeing tube prep, flaring, CNC bending, inspection, cleaning, and integration with downstream processes. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that all operations meet the stringent requirements of aerospace standards while maintaining high productivity levels. You will work closely with engineering to validate designs against blueprints, utilizing minimal fixtures and adhering to short schedules.
You will be tasked with solving tube fitment issues and documenting changes for future development, ensuring that all modifications are tracked and communicated effectively. Your leadership will extend to mentoring junior technicians, providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles. You will foster a culture of excellence, emphasizing safety protocols and advanced techniques in tube bending.
As you oversee the setup and operation of advanced tube-bending equipment, you will ensure that all processes are optimized for efficiency and quality. Your ability to troubleshoot equipment issues will be critical in maintaining production schedules and meeting project deadlines. You will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhancement in both quality and productivity.
