Overview

SpaceX is seeking a GNC Engineer for the Dragon team to perform mission design and implement GNC algorithms for crewed and cargo spacecraft operations. This role involves driving the full-cycle of Dragon missions and requires expertise in complex problem-solving.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) engineering, with experience in mission design and algorithm implementation for spacecraft operations. You thrive in high-stakes environments and enjoy solving complex problems that contribute to the advancement of the space industry. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about space exploration. You possess excellent analytical skills and can effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Desirable

Experience with simulation and analysis of orbital maneuvers, docking, and reentry profiles is a plus. Familiarity with NASA and commercial partner requirements will enhance your ability to capture and implement mission objectives. A background in human spaceflight reliability and operations will be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As a GNC Engineer on the Dragon team, you will be responsible for performing mission design and implementing new GNC algorithms tailored to crewed and cargo spacecraft operations. You will drive the full-cycle of Dragon missions, from capturing requirements from NASA and commercial partners through design reviews, simulation, and analysis of orbital maneuvers, docking, and reentry profiles. You will execute real-time operations from mission control, ensuring the success of each mission. Your contributions will help set the industry standard in human spaceflight reliability by supporting launch, rendezvous, and docking with the ISS, deorbit and splashdown recovery, and abort system integration for every Dragon mission.

You will also support all Commercial Resupply Services (CRS), Commercial Crew Program (CCP), and private astronaut missions aboard Crew Dragon and Cargo Dragon vehicles. Additionally, you will be involved in the development of the United States Deorbit Vehicle (USDV) for safe ISS disposal, including GNC design for precise deorbit trajectories and end-of-life maneuvering. This is a high-impact role that directly contributes to SpaceX's mission of enabling life on multiple planets.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of space exploration. We offer a collaborative work environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of humanity in space. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and be part of a mission-driven organization that is committed to making life multi-planetary. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
