SpaceX is hiring an Instrumentation & Controls Technician for their Water Treatment team in Bastrop, TX. You'll be responsible for maintaining critical water infrastructure and troubleshooting various industrial instrumentation systems. This role requires hands-on experience with PLCs and control panels.

Job Description

Who you are

You have experience as an Instrumentation and Controls Technician, ideally with a focus on water treatment systems. You are a hands-on problem solver who enjoys troubleshooting and maintaining industrial instrumentation, including pH, ORP, conductivity, turbidity, flow, level, pressure, and temperature transmitters. Your expertise includes working with PLCs, specifically Allen Bradley and Siemens, and you are comfortable diagnosing issues within 4-20mA, 0-10V, and digital communication loops. You thrive in environments where you can take ownership of critical systems and ensure their reliability.

You understand the importance of uptime for production lines and safety for operations teams. You are proactive in identifying potential issues and implementing solutions to maintain the integrity of water treatment processes. Your ability to work collaboratively with other team members and communicate effectively is essential in this role. You are committed to continuous learning and staying updated on the latest technologies and best practices in instrumentation and controls.

Desirable

Experience with Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems or Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) systems is a plus. Familiarity with industrial wastewater treatment processes will enhance your ability to contribute to the team. You may also have certifications related to instrumentation and controls, which would further demonstrate your expertise in the field.

What you'll do

In this role, you will perform installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial instrumentation systems that are critical to SpaceX's water treatment operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of systems that support manufacturing and testing operations. Your day-to-day tasks will include troubleshooting control panels, PLCs, VFDs, and motor starters related to water treatment skids. You will work closely with other technicians and engineers to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.

You will take ownership of the instrumentation systems, ensuring they operate at peak performance. This includes performing routine maintenance and inspections, as well as implementing improvements to enhance system reliability. You will also assist in redesigning control loops to optimize performance and efficiency. Your hands-on approach will be crucial in maintaining the uptime of critical production lines and ensuring safety for the operations team.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to advancing space exploration. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a dynamic environment where your contributions directly impact the success of our projects.
