Who you are

You have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in designing and developing production tooling. You demonstrate extreme ownership of projects, managing them from initial concept through to fabrication and production implementation. Your well-rounded technical knowledge allows you to make informed decisions based on cost and schedule considerations, and you are comfortable balancing multiple projects of varying scope and complexity in a fast-paced environment.

You possess excellent organizational skills, coordinating with internal resources and external vendors to align with project schedules. Your ability to liaise with various engineering and production teams ensures that you drive design for manufacturing effectively. You are proficient in basic structural sizing, mechanisms, and design, which enables you to contribute meaningfully to the development process.

Desirable

Experience with large-scale production environments and familiarity with automation and pressurized systems will be advantageous. You thrive in collaborative settings and are eager to build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure project success.

What you'll do

As a Mechanical Engineer on the Production Tooling team at SpaceX, you will be responsible for designing and developing custom tools that are critical to the success of various programs. You will take ownership of high-impact projects, driving them from concept to completion on a timeline measured in months. Your role will involve working closely with engineering and production teams to ensure that tooling designs are optimized for manufacturing.

You will balance multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating your ability to manage complexity and prioritize effectively. Your technical expertise will be essential as you make development decisions that consider both cost and schedule. You will also collaborate with neighboring teams, such as Automation and Pressurized Systems, to troubleshoot during the build process and bring large assets online.

In this role, you will hone your organizational skills as you coordinate with internal SpaceX resources and external vendors. Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers will be key to aligning with project schedules and ensuring the successful implementation of tooling solutions.
