Overview
SpaceX is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for the Starship project to develop machining capabilities and ensure high-quality production. You'll work closely with engineering and production teams, utilizing skills in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a background in manufacturing engineering with a focus on machining processes — your experience includes developing in-house machining capabilities and optimizing designs for manufacturability. You are skilled in using CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create precise engineering drawings and models. You understand the importance of maintaining quality standards and have a keen eye for detail when analyzing piece parts and assemblies. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring that engineering and production efforts are aligned. You are proactive in identifying potential issues and implementing solutions to enhance manufacturing efficiency. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where innovation is key, and you are excited about contributing to cutting-edge space technology.
Desirable
Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes or working in a high-tech environment is a plus. Familiarity with quality assurance practices and inspection techniques will help you excel in this role. A passion for space exploration and a desire to be part of a mission-driven company like SpaceX will set you apart.
What you'll do
As a Manufacturing Engineer for the Starship project, you will take ownership of developing machining capabilities for critical components. You will analyze designs for manufacturability (DFM) to ensure that parts are optimized for production and assembly. Your role will involve maintaining a close feedback loop with downstream operations to facilitate rapid iterations and product success. You will review quality concerns from piece part inspections and lead investigations into out-of-tolerance conditions, ensuring that all parts meet rigorous standards before they are approved for assembly. You will also be responsible for identifying, recommending, and procuring necessary tools and equipment to enhance machining capabilities. Your contributions will directly impact the production of vehicles that are essential for SpaceX's mission to extend humanity's reach beyond Earth.
What we offer
At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and innovation. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional development. You will work in a collaborative environment where your ideas and contributions are valued. Join us in our mission to make space travel accessible and to enable human life on Mars. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your passion and commitment to excellence are what matter most.
