Job Description
Who you are
You have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and experience in HVAC system design and operations — you understand the complexities of environmental control systems and have a strong grasp of ASHRAE standards. You are skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, which allows you to effectively communicate design specifications to various stakeholders. Your background includes performing air conditioning cooling load calculations and heat loss calculations, ensuring that systems are designed to meet rigorous performance standards. You are detail-oriented and have a proactive approach to problem-solving, which helps you identify and resolve system malfunctions efficiently. You are familiar with HVAC system commissioning processes and have experience implementing guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Desirable
Experience with capital project management and preventative maintenance efforts is a plus — you understand the importance of maintaining system performance over time. Familiarity with facility engineering in a high-tech environment, such as aerospace or manufacturing, would be beneficial. You are a team player who enjoys collaborating with engineers and other personnel to implement effective operating procedures.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead and contribute to the design of HVAC systems for various facilities, including offices, hangars, and rocket environments. You will oversee the construction and operations of these systems, ensuring they meet the necessary specifications and compliance requirements. Your responsibilities will include conducting air conditioning cooling load calculations and heat loss calculations, following ASHRAE standards to ensure optimal system performance. You will implement and execute HVAC system commissioning in compliance with ASHRAE guidelines, ensuring that all systems are functioning as intended. You will confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information as needed. Additionally, you will research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility of new projects.
