Who you are
You have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in designing and implementing test systems for complex hardware. Your expertise includes mechanical design, thermal system design, and fluid system design, allowing you to tackle a variety of engineering challenges. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-discipline teams including electrical, controls, and software engineers to develop integrated test systems. Your problem-solving skills enable you to address complex, open-ended issues effectively, ensuring that all components meet stringent vehicle requirements.
Desirable
Experience with satellite components or aerospace engineering is a plus, as is familiarity with high-volume production environments. You are comfortable using tools like AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create detailed designs and specifications. A proactive approach to collaboration and communication with production personnel and engineering teams will help you succeed in this role.
What you'll do
As a Mechanical Engineer on the Starlink Components Test Team, you will own the design, development, build, and implementation of custom equipment for testing satellite components. This involves creating specialized machinery and tooling that will be utilized in our factory and test labs. You will collaborate with various engineering teams to ensure that the test systems are integrated seamlessly with other components of the satellite. Your role will also involve validating that each component is designed and built to meet the vehicle requirements, contributing to the overall success of SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars.
