Who you are
You have a strong background in nondestructive evaluation (NDE) engineering, with experience in advanced inspection technologies that ensure the structural integrity of aerospace components. Your expertise includes techniques such as phased-array ultrasonics, radiography, eddy-current testing, and laser profilometry, which you have applied in high-stakes manufacturing environments. You are adept at interfacing with engineering teams to align on inspection requirements and capabilities, ensuring that parts are designed for inspectability.
You possess a collaborative mindset, working seamlessly with vendors and tooling groups to define project requirements and manage initiatives from conception to delivery. Your problem-solving skills enable you to prototype and validate early inspection developments, reducing risks associated with new technologies. You are committed to driving automation initiatives that enhance manufacturing quality and efficiency.
What you'll do
As an NDE Engineer at SpaceX, you will develop and deliver advanced nondestructive evaluation inspection solutions that are critical to the success of the Starship program. You will design, prototype, and implement nondestructive sensor systems aimed at solving complex manufacturing quality problems. Your role will involve interfacing with vehicle engineering across all programs to ensure alignment on inspection requirements, feasibility, and method selection.
You will be responsible for interpreting and evaluating data from inspections, providing insights that drive optimizations in manufacturing processes. Additionally, you will prototype early inspection developments and conduct bench-top validations to mitigate risks associated with new technologies. Your contributions will support SpaceX's goals for nondestructive automation initiatives and increased reliability in production.
