Who you are
You have a strong background in maintaining and operating robotic systems, with hands-on experience in programming and troubleshooting. Your expertise in electrical and mechanical components allows you to effectively replace and install various parts, ensuring optimal performance of robotic assets. You are detail-oriented and capable of working in high-pressure environments, particularly in the aerospace sector.
You possess a solid understanding of CNC machines and robotic welding processes, which are critical for the manufacturing of thermal protection systems. Your ability to work collaboratively with engineering teams enhances your effectiveness in supporting complex projects. You are committed to safety and quality standards, ensuring that all operations meet rigorous aerospace requirements.
What you'll do
As a Thermal Development Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of robotic and automated systems used in the manufacturing of heat shields for the Starship spacecraft. This includes performing routine maintenance on vacuum chambers, thermal chambers, and robotic welders to ensure they are in optimal working condition. You will also be tasked with replacing and installing electrical components such as switches, relays, and sensors, as well as mechanical components like motors and pumps.
Your role will involve supporting the fabrication of ceramic refractory billets and thermal gap fillers, which are essential for the heat shield's performance during atmospheric reentry. You will collaborate closely with engineers to troubleshoot issues and implement improvements in the manufacturing process. Your contributions will directly impact the success of SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars.
