SpaceX is hiring a Structures Technician for Transfer Tube Production on the 2nd shift. You'll be responsible for the modification, repair, assembly, and installation of rocket and spacecraft components. This role requires hands-on skills in tooling and assembly processes.

You are a detail-oriented individual with a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for aerospace technology. You have experience in assembly and installation processes, ideally in a manufacturing or technical environment. Your ability to follow detailed instructions and work with precision tools is essential for success in this role. You understand the importance of safety and compliance when handling materials and equipment, and you are committed to maintaining a clean and organized workspace. You are eager to learn and grow within a fast-paced environment, contributing to the mission of advancing space exploration.
Desirable
Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus, as it will help you visualize and understand the components you will be working with. Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes or similar industries will give you an edge in this role.
What you'll do
As a Structures Technician, you will be responsible for the modification, repair, assembly, and installation of various components for rockets and spacecraft. You will utilize tooling holes and pilot holes, ensuring that parts are aligned and secured properly using clecos or hand clamps. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you check for good edge margins and alignment, shim and trim parts as necessary, and select the appropriate drill bits and tools for the job. You will drill pilot holes and full-size holes in parts and assemblies, ensuring that all work is completed in the correct sequence and to the specified sizes.
You will also disassemble parts and deburr holes to prepare for fastener installation, using various tools and solvents to clean surfaces prior to sealing or assembly. Your role will involve applying sealants, primers, and adhesives, as well as loading and unloading ovens to bond detail parts to assemblies. Handling and disposing of hazardous materials safely will be part of your responsibilities, and you will determine the correct type and size of fasteners needed for each task.
