SpaceX is hiring a Propulsion Analyst to conduct structural analyses on the Raptor engine. You'll work with MATLAB and Python to ensure performance requirements are met. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering and 1+ years of relevant experience.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline and at least 1 year of experience in structural analysis, design, or manufacturing. Your background includes a strong understanding of statics, mechanics of materials, fatigue, and dynamics — you possess a keen eye for detail and a passion for complex physics. You are proficient in MATLAB and Python, which you use to conduct analyses and document findings effectively. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working hands-on with engine hardware to solve intricate challenges. You are eager to contribute to the development of technologies that enable human life on Mars.
What you'll do
As a Propulsion Analyst at SpaceX, you will conduct, document, and present static, thermal, dynamic, and fatigue analyses on the Raptor engine using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and first principles. You will ensure that the engine meets performance requirements throughout all phases of flight by collaborating with design teams and driving necessary analyses during the engine component design cycles. Your role will involve grounding model predictions in reality through practical, hands-on approaches, ensuring that the world's most advanced rocket engine can withstand extreme conditions. You will output requirements and capabilities for engine/stage interfaces, contributing to the overall success of the Starship program.
