Who you are

You have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics and over 5 years of experience working with physical sensors, PCBAs, and test development. Your background includes hands-on experience with pressure transducers or similar devices, showcasing your ability to work with complex hardware systems. You thrive in interdisciplinary teams and have a strong understanding of avionics hardware design and testing processes. Your communication skills allow you to effectively document requirements and collaborate with stakeholders across various teams.

You are detail-oriented and have a proven track record of coordinating and executing acceptance and qualification testing for avionics hardware. Your experience interfacing with vendors and internal production teams demonstrates your capability in supporting new product introductions and sustaining engineering efforts. You are adept at investigating failures, documenting findings, and driving corrective actions to ensure high-quality outcomes in engineering projects.

Desirable

Experience with avionics systems and a passion for aerospace technology would be advantageous. Familiarity with design reviews and the ability to prepare comprehensive documentation for engineering processes will set you apart. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement in engineering practices are highly valued.

What you'll do

As a Senior Propulsion Engineer on the Raptor Avionics team, you will be responsible for the design, manufacturing, and testing of avionics devices installed on Raptor engines. You will develop, test, and qualify avionics hardware and sensors, ensuring they meet the rigorous standards required for space applications. Your role will involve collecting and documenting requirements to communicate effectively with stakeholders through data sheets and instruction manuals.

You will coordinate and execute acceptance, qualification, and development testing of avionics hardware, working closely with various teams including systems, integration, dynamics, and guidance. Your ability to interface with vendors and internal production teams will support new product introductions and ongoing engineering efforts. You will participate in design reviews, contributing your expertise to ensure that hardware and software are developed to meet vehicle requirements.

In this role, you will investigate failures, document your findings, and drive corrective actions to enhance the reliability and performance of avionics systems. Your contributions will play a crucial role in advancing SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars through innovative propulsion technologies.
