What you'll do

As a Security Software Engineer on the Starshield team, you will influence the security of software across SpaceX's product lines — your role will involve designing secure systems that guarantee access to space and developing next-gen communication and sensing software. You will work closely with other engineers to build highly reliable in-space mesh networks, ensuring that security is integrated into every aspect of the software development lifecycle.

You will be responsible for conducting vulnerability assessments and implementing security measures to protect against potential threats. Your expertise in applied cryptography will be crucial as you design and implement secure communication protocols. You will also play a key role in incident response, helping to identify and mitigate security incidents as they arise.

Collaboration is essential in this role — you will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that security considerations are addressed throughout the development process. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping to foster a culture of security awareness within the team.
