Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Avionics) to design and improve avionics hardware for space vehicles. You'll work with Altium Designer and Embedded Linux to ensure reliability and manufacturability. This position requires significant experience in electrical design and avionics.

Job Description

Who you are

You are a Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in avionics hardware development — you have extensive experience in designing and troubleshooting electronic assemblies, and you understand the complexities of the product life cycle from development through production and launch. Your expertise in electronic design and reliability ensures that you can create hardware that meets the highest safety standards for space travel.

You possess a deep understanding of PCB design and modifications — you have a proven track record of improving the reliability and manufacturability of electronic components. Your analytical skills allow you to perform root cause analysis effectively, and you are comfortable driving changes to electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

You thrive in a collaborative environment where you can engage with multiple disciplines — your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams ensures that you can identify opportunities for improvement in both products and processes. You take extreme ownership of your work, understanding the critical nature of avionics hardware for flight.

Desirable

Experience with aerospace standards and regulations is a plus — you are familiar with the unique challenges of designing for space applications. Knowledge of additional design tools and software can enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer on the Avionics Hardware Development team, you will design new hardware and redesign existing systems to enhance their capabilities — your work will directly impact the safety and reliability of SpaceX vehicles. You will analyze and troubleshoot electronic assemblies, ensuring that all components meet rigorous standards.

You will define new processes and design circuits, fixtures, and tools that facilitate the manufacturing of avionics hardware — your innovative approach will help streamline production and improve overall efficiency. You will also be responsible for driving changes to electrical schematics and mechanical drawings, focusing on enhancing reliability and manufacturability.

Your role will involve collaborating closely with other engineers and teams to ensure that all aspects of the product life cycle are considered — from initial design through to launch, you will play a key role in ensuring that SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars is achieved safely and effectively.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploration — you will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects that have a real impact on humanity's future in space. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with a dynamic work environment that fosters innovation and collaboration.

Join us in our quest to explore the stars — your contributions will be vital in ensuring the safety and reliability of our space vehicles, and you will be part of a culture that values creativity, excellence, and teamwork.
