Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in software engineering with a focus on AI technologies — your experience includes developing and implementing machine learning models and working with large datasets. You are proficient in Python and have a solid understanding of data analysis techniques, enabling you to extract valuable insights from complex data problems. Your ability to collaborate with engineers across various disciplines makes you an effective team member in a fast-paced environment.
You are familiar with setting up Large Language Models (LLMs) and have experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques — this knowledge allows you to contribute to innovative solutions that enhance software development and testing processes. You understand the importance of safety and reliability in aerospace applications and are committed to developing in-house solutions that meet these standards.
What you'll do
As a Software Engineer in Vehicle Engineering at SpaceX, you will be a founding member of the Artificial Intelligence Software Engineering team — your primary focus will be on solving complex data problems for our launch vehicles and spacecraft. You will work closely with engineers throughout the company to create new AI systems that unlock engineering bottlenecks and transform how engineering data is accessed and used. Your responsibilities will include training internal models on SpaceX data and using machine learning to intelligently extract knowledge hidden in time-series data.
You will also be involved in developing new technologies to help engineers rapidly design and test space hardware, including electronics and propulsion systems — your contributions will directly support the world's largest satellite constellation and accelerate the rapid reuse of the Falcon launch vehicle. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the AI systems you develop are effectively integrated into existing workflows and enhance overall operational efficiency.
What we offer
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to enabling human life on Mars — we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a dynamic environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of space exploration.
