Job Description

Who you are

You have extensive experience in welding management, ideally with a background in aerospace or automotive industries — you've successfully led teams of technicians and understand the intricacies of production processes. Your ability to monitor key metrics and manage production schedules is second nature, allowing you to identify risks and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

You possess a strong technical background in welding techniques and processes — your expertise enables you to provide valuable support to your team, ensuring that all modifications, repairs, and assemblies meet high standards of quality and safety. You are proactive in resolving non-conformance issues and are adept at reviewing work instructions to recommend necessary changes.

Your leadership style fosters collaboration and efficiency — you thrive in environments where you can mentor and guide your team, helping them to achieve their best work while meeting tight production schedules. You are committed to maintaining a safe working environment and prioritize safety in all aspects of production.

Desirable

Experience with advanced welding technologies and tools is a plus — familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design software can enhance your ability to assist with tooling and fixturing designs. A background in managing multi-disciplinary teams will further strengthen your candidacy.

What you'll do

As the Welding Manager for the Starship Build team, you will lead and manage a staff of up to 120 technicians across multiple shifts — your role is crucial in ensuring that the production process runs smoothly and efficiently. You will oversee the modification, repair, assembly, and integration of production assemblies, guaranteeing that all targets for on-time delivery and quality are met.

You will be responsible for managing the complete production process within your designated area — this includes monitoring key metrics, identifying risks, and implementing actions to mitigate them. Your ability to communicate effectively with both management and engineering teams will be essential in streamlining the fit-up and welding processes.

In addition to overseeing daily operations, you will provide technical support to the welding team — your expertise will help resolve any challenges that arise during production. You will also play a key role in reviewing work instructions and making recommendations for improvements, ensuring that the team adheres to best practices and safety standards.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to advancing human space exploration — your contributions will directly impact the future of space travel.
