Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Test Engineer for the Falcon Test team to ensure rocket hardware suitability for flight. You'll conduct tests, analyze data, and collaborate with engineers to enhance product quality. This role requires a strong understanding of testing processes and hardware evaluation.

You have a solid background in engineering, particularly in testing processes and methodologies. You understand the importance of reliability in aerospace and are committed to ensuring that hardware meets stringent flight standards. Your analytical skills allow you to evaluate performance data effectively, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can work closely with design and production teams. You are detail-oriented and proactive in identifying potential issues and areas for improvement in testing procedures.

Desirable

Experience in aerospace or a related field is a plus, as is familiarity with rocket hardware testing. You may have worked with various testing systems and understand the nuances of operating in high-stakes environments. What you'll do

As a Test Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for the entire test process of rocket hardware. This includes developing test requirements and handling test articles to ensure they meet the necessary specifications for flight. You will provide on-console engineering support during daily test stand operations, working closely with technicians to ensure smooth execution of tests. Your role will involve conducting real-time and post-test data reviews to evaluate the performance of test articles and stand systems, including fluid, structural, thermal, and electrical assessments. You will document test results meticulously and recommend upgrades and improvements based on your findings.

In addition to executing tests, you will find innovative ways to optimize testing processes and procedures to increase testing capability and efficiency. Identifying and characterizing system pitfalls and potential hazards will be a key part of your responsibilities, and you will collaborate with design, production, and launch engineers to resolve these issues effectively. Your contributions will directly impact the reliability and safety of SpaceX's rocket hardware, playing a crucial role in the company's mission to enable human life on Mars.
