Your expertise in Java and REST APIs allows you to create secure and efficient interfaces that empower users to control their energy consumption effectively.

You are comfortable working with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and have experience deploying applications in a cloud environment. Your familiarity with Docker enables you to create containerized applications that are easy to manage and scale. You understand the importance of database management and have hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, ensuring data integrity and performance in your applications.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, mobile developers, and firmware engineers. Your strong communication skills allow you to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring everyone is aligned on project goals.

What you'll do

As a Staff Backend Engineer at SPAN, you will lead the design and implementation of backend systems that integrate with SPAN's products, such as SPAN Panel and SPAN Drive. You will be responsible for developing APIs that provide users with access to energy monitoring data and controls, ensuring that these interfaces are secure and user-friendly.

You will collaborate closely with data engineering teams to process and analyze large datasets, enabling insights that drive product improvements. Your role will involve optimizing data storage and retrieval processes to ensure high performance and reliability.

You will participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team. Your leadership will help guide the technical direction of projects, ensuring that best practices are followed and that the team delivers high-quality software.

You will also engage with product management and design teams to understand user needs and translate them into technical requirements. Your ability to balance technical constraints with user experience will be crucial in delivering impactful solutions.
