Who you are

You have 4+ years of experience coding to a high standard in Python — you've developed robust data pipelines and understand the intricacies of data ingestion and transformation. Your Bachelor's degree in a STEM subject has equipped you with the analytical skills necessary for this role.

You possess experience with SQL and are familiar with one or more common RDBMS systems, primarily PostgreSQL — your knowledge allows you to design efficient data models that facilitate quick query construction. You have practical knowledge of commonly used protocols and tools for data transfer, such as FTP, SFTP, HTTP APIs, and AWS S3.

Excellent communication skills are one of your strengths — you thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with quant researchers and traders to onboard new datasets and improve existing data frameworks. You value teamwork and are eager to contribute to a culture of learning and development.

Desirable

Experience with big data frameworks, databases, distributed systems, or cloud development would be a plus — you are open to exploring new technologies and methodologies that can enhance the team's capabilities.

What you'll do

As a Senior Data Engineer at Squarepoint Capital, you will take part ownership of the ever-growing estate of data pipelines — your role will involve designing, implementing, testing, optimizing, and troubleshooting these pipelines to ensure they are resilient and maintainable. You will collaborate with researchers to onboard new datasets, ensuring that the data models are carefully designed for efficient query construction and alpha generation.

You will regularly take the lead on production support operations during normal working hours — your expertise will help maintain the high standards of data delivery that Squarepoint is known for. You will also propose and contribute to new abstractions and improvements, making a real positive impact across the team globally.

Your contributions will not only enhance the quality of data delivery but also improve the overall throughput and code quality of the team — you will be encouraged to build new frameworks, libraries, and services that increase the team's quality of life. You will be a cornerstone of a growing Data team, becoming a technical subject matter expert and developing strong working relationships with colleagues across the Technology organization.
