Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in C++ and at least 4 years of professional software engineering experience — you've designed and developed data infrastructure components that support data processing and analytics pipelines. Your expertise in microservices architecture allows you to create high-performance solutions for accessing large datasets, which is crucial in trading and research environments.
You are familiar with data serialization formats such as Apache Arrow and Parquet, and you have experience with Google Protocol Buffers and Flatbuffers. Your knowledge of gRPC, HTTP/REST, and WebSocket protocols enables you to build efficient communication channels between services. You also have experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud, and you understand containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with data engineers, data scientists, and quantitative researchers to ensure efficient and reliable data retrieval, processing, and storage. You are committed to writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to coding best practices and standards.
You stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in C++ programming and data engineering technologies, and you actively participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency. Your debugging skills allow you to troubleshoot software issues effectively, providing timely resolutions to keep projects on track.
Desirable
Experience with other programming languages such as Rust, Python, and Q is a plus, as it enhances your versatility in tackling various challenges within the data infrastructure domain.
What you'll do
As a Software Developer on the Data Infrastructure team, you will design, develop, and maintain microservices that process and analyze large datasets. Your primary responsibility will be to optimize these microservices for performance and scalability, ensuring efficient data processing that meets the demands of trading and research.
You will collaborate with support teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of microservices, contributing to the overall software architecture and design of data processing and analytics pipelines. Your role will involve debugging and troubleshooting software issues, providing timely resolutions to maintain system reliability.
You will participate in code reviews, ensuring code quality and consistency across the team. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency of data retrieval and processing, enabling the firm to leverage data effectively in its trading strategies.
