You have an advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Econometrics, Applied Economics, or a related field — your academic background has equipped you with the analytical skills necessary for evaluating complex data sets. You have experience in researching, analyzing, and modeling data, ideally through prior internship experience or in a related position, which has given you a solid foundation in quantitative analysis. Your coding skills in Python are strong, and you are comfortable using Excel to support your analytical tasks. You demonstrate a passion for investing and trends in the commodities markets, which drives your interest in this role. You possess excellent writing skills and can quickly synthesize thoughts and organize information effectively. You are open to tackling any project or task that is required, showcasing your adaptability and willingness to learn. Strong communication skills enable you to work well with colleagues across multiple teams and regions, fostering collaboration and teamwork.

What you'll do

In this role, you will support the desks in building fundamental commodity supply and demand models, which are crucial for informed trading decisions. You will assist in developing and expanding analytics tools and processes for the desk, ensuring that they have the necessary resources to operate effectively. Your responsibilities will include producing ad hoc analysis based on short-term market developments as requested by the desk to support trade ideas. You will evaluate and improve market data quality, ensuring that the information used for trading is accurate and reliable. Each day, before the market opens, you will check that all required data and related processes are ready for the trading day, demonstrating your attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence. During the trading day, you will perform ad-hoc analysis on topics linked with current trade opportunities, providing timely insights to support decision-making. You will also work on various long-term projects aimed at building market-leading analytical models, contributing to the desk's strategic initiatives.

Squarepoint Capital offers a competitive base salary starting at $150,000 for this role if located in New York, along with eligibility for discretionary bonuses that could constitute a significant portion of total compensation.
