Quantitative Analyst • Senior

Who you are

You have a quantitative background, ideally with degrees in Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Financial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, or Physics. Your programming proficiency includes at least one major programming or scripting language such as C++, Java, or Python, which you use to analyze large data sets and identify trading opportunities. You possess strong communication skills and can work effectively with colleagues across multiple regions, thriving under pressure while ensuring statistical significance in your results.

You are familiar with instruments of at least one liquid non-equity asset class, such as futures, FX, or cash treasuries, and have experience working with intraday bar data to research trading opportunities. Your analytical mindset allows you to critically question results and ensure they are robust, making you a valuable asset in the trading environment.

What you'll do

In this role, your primary focus will be on researching and implementing trading ideas within the firm's automated trading framework. Before the market opens, you will check that all required data and related processes are ready for the trading day. During market hours, you will monitor the behavior and performance of strategies, comparing live performance with simulations to ensure optimal outcomes. You will present your results to your manager, discussing improvements, open questions, and next steps to refine trading strategies.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include analyzing large data sets using advanced statistical methods to identify trading opportunities and developing a strong understanding of the market structure of various exchanges and asset classes. You will also engage in discussions with your team to ensure that your findings are statistically significant and robust, contributing to the overall success of the trading strategies employed by the firm.

Squarepoint Capital offers a competitive base salary starting at $150,000 for this role if located in New York, along with eligibility for discretionary bonuses that could constitute a significant portion of your total compensation.
