Who you are

You have 4+ years of support experience, ideally in a trading or financial services environment, where you've developed a strong understanding of trading infrastructure and the importance of high availability. Your experience in Linux/Unix administration (RHEL/CentOS/OEL preferred) has equipped you with the skills to manage and troubleshoot complex systems effectively. Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting is essential, as you will be automating processes and improving workflows. You possess a good working knowledge of storage and different storage protocols, with experience in nfs and gpfs being a plus. Your familiarity with infrastructure automation tools like Chef, Puppet, or Ansible allows you to streamline operations and enhance system reliability.

You are comfortable working with messaging systems, particularly Kafka or similar technologies, and have experience with CI/CD tooling that supports efficient deployment processes. Your expertise in monitoring infrastructure using tools like ELK and Prometheus ensures that you can quickly identify and respond to outages, maintaining a highly available environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial for your daily interactions with internal teams, external vendors, and service providers, allowing you to effectively manage user requests and track resolutions.

What you'll do

As a Trade Flow Support Engineer, you will be part of a talented team responsible for ensuring the high availability of Squarepoint’s trading infrastructure. You will provide L1/L2 support across all services globally distributed across APAC, EMEA, and AMER regions. Your role involves monitoring services and quickly reacting to any outages to minimize trade flow impact. You will identify, analyze, and correct alerts and issues, escalating them when necessary to preempt outages. Intensive interaction with the trading community, external vendors, and development teams will be a key part of your responsibilities, as you oversee automated processes, scheduled jobs, and regular reports.

You will manage user requests by tracking them, reviewing approvals, and ensuring timely updates and resolutions. Your ability to identify inefficiencies in repetitive activities and manual processes will drive continuous improvements through automation and collaboration with internal and external teams. You will also be expected to make quick decisions and establish priorities in a multi-tasking and fast-paced environment, demonstrating your ownership and accountability mindset. Knowledge of ITIL practices will be advantageous as you work to enhance service delivery and support processes.
