What you'll do
As the Engineering Team Manager for the Websites team at Squarespace, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the platform — you will lead a team of Fullstack engineers, focusing on delivering advanced, user-facing features that empower web design professionals. You will collaborate closely with the Product Manager to define the team's scope and objectives, ensuring that your team's efforts align with the overall product strategy.
You will be responsible for hiring and building a balanced team of engineers — you will identify talent that complements the team's skills and fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation. Your leadership will involve conducting regular 1:1s with team members, providing actionable feedback, and supporting their career development.
You will oversee the team's processes, driving continuous improvements in efficiency and effectiveness — you will implement best practices in software development and encourage a culture of experimentation and learning. Your role will also involve advocating for architectural choices that enhance the platform's capabilities, ensuring that the team is equipped to tackle complex technical challenges.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Design and Product, to ensure that the features your team develops meet user needs and expectations — you will facilitate discussions that bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is aligned on project goals.
