Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline and over 8 years of mechanical design and drafting experience — your expertise includes designing metallic structures and propulsion fluid systems under tight deadlines. You are proficient in 3D CAD software, with SolidWorks being your preferred tool, and you possess a deep understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups, which you apply in your designs. Your extensive experience in spacecraft design equips you with the knowledge to create robust and reliable flight hardware.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. Your hands-on experience in designing hardware for highly constrained systems under defined timelines has prepared you to lead and mentor other engineers effectively. You are also capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret and/or a TS/SCI clearance, which is essential for this role.
What you'll do
As a Staff Mechanical Engineer at Turion Space, you will be responsible for the full development lifecycle of spacecraft components, from early concept and detailed design through analysis, fabrication, integration, and testing. You will design metallic structures and propulsion fluid systems, ensuring they meet rigorous specifications and performance standards. Your role will involve reviewing engineering data to develop mechanical systems and updating designs through engineering change orders to support rapid design iterations.
You will create detailed component and assembly drawings, incorporating your understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups. Additionally, you will lead, mentor, and train engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team. Your contributions will be critical in ensuring that the flight hardware is robust, reliable, and ready for space missions.
