Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline and over 5 years of mechanical design and drafting experience — your expertise includes designing metallic structures and propulsion fluid systems under tight deadlines. You are proficient in 3D CAD software, with SolidWorks being your preferred tool, and you possess a solid understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups, which you apply in your designs. Your experience includes spacecraft design, and you are familiar with working on aluminum and composite materials, as well as welded structures and fluid systems.
You are a natural leader who enjoys mentoring and training engineers, fostering a collaborative environment where innovative ideas can flourish. You thrive in a fast-paced setting and are adept at reviewing specifications and engineering data to develop mechanical systems that meet rigorous standards. Your hands-on experience in designing hardware for highly constrained systems under defined timelines sets you apart as a candidate.
What you'll do
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Turion Space, you will be integral to the Mechanical Engineering team, contributing to the design and development of satellites and mechanisms that support our missions. You will work across the full development lifecycle, from early concept and detailed design through analysis, fabrication, integration, and testing. Your role will involve creating detailed component and assembly drawings, incorporating your understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups to ensure the robustness and reliability of flight hardware.
You will lead design iterations and updates through engineering change orders, ensuring that our designs evolve rapidly to meet project demands. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure that all mechanical systems are designed to withstand the challenges of space. Your responsibilities will also include mentoring junior engineers, guiding them through complex design challenges and fostering their professional growth.
What we offer
