Overview

Unity is hiring a Senior Embedded Engineer to strengthen their Android & Embedded platform team for automotive. You'll work with C/C++/C#/Java codebases and collaborate on high-performance solutions. This role requires expertise in Android and embedded systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in software engineering with a focus on embedded systems, particularly in automotive applications. Your experience spans multiple programming languages including C, C++, C#, and Java, allowing you to navigate complex codebases with ease. You possess deep knowledge of the Android lifecycle and system services, which enables you to tackle challenges in multi-screen experiences and rich multi-touch input. Your familiarity with GPU/CPU/IO profiling and rendering pipelines using OpenGL and Vulkan sets you apart as a candidate who can deliver robust solutions. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to solve intricate platform problems.

You have a proven track record of developing integrations with applications and frameworks tailored for industry verticals. Your ability to investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks ensures that customers are set up for success. You are comfortable working directly with clients, addressing their needs and providing technical support. Your passion for technology drives you to stay updated with the latest advancements in embedded systems and automotive technologies.

Desirable

Experience with Automotive SoCs such as NXP i.MX8 or NVIDIA Drive CX would be a significant advantage. Familiarity with Android system apps and production HMI and instrument-cluster experiences is also desirable. You are eager to contribute to a team that values innovation and excellence in the automotive sector.

What you'll do

In this role, you will extend Unity's platform capabilities to include targeted hardware and operating systems used within the automotive industry. You will develop integrations with applications, development frameworks, and libraries to support various industry verticals. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with industry teams who work directly with customers, ensuring that their needs are met through effective solutions. You will also engage with core R&D teams responsible for cross-platform support, systems architecture, libraries, and runtime optimization.

You will focus on delivering high-performance solutions that enhance the user experience in automotive applications. This includes working on multi-screen experiences and integrating 3D content with native applications. You will be involved in debugging complex issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring that the platform meets the rigorous demands of the automotive sector. Your contributions will play a central role in solving some of the hardest platform problems faced by Unity.
