Unity is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen their Android & Embedded platform team for automotive. You'll work with C/C++/C#/Java codebases and focus on Android lifecycle and system services. This role requires expertise in embedded systems and graphics rendering.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in software engineering with a focus on embedded systems, particularly in automotive applications. Your experience spans multiple programming languages including C, C++, C#, and Java, allowing you to navigate complex codebases effectively. You are familiar with Android (AOSP/AAOS) and have a solid understanding of embedded Linux and QNX, which are crucial for developing robust automotive solutions. Your expertise in graphics rendering technologies such as OpenGL and Vulkan enables you to create rich multi-screen experiences and optimize performance across various platforms.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to solve challenging platform problems. Your ability to profile GPU/CPU/IO performance and identify bottlenecks is key to ensuring high-performance solutions. You are passionate about delivering quality software and have a track record of integrating applications with development frameworks and libraries tailored for specific industry verticals.
What you'll do
In this role, you will extend Unity's platform capabilities to support targeted hardware and operating systems used in the automotive industry. You will develop integrations with applications and frameworks, ensuring that our solutions meet the needs of premium automotive customers. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include collaborating with industry teams to investigate and resolve bugs, as well as evaluating performance bottlenecks to enhance user experiences. You will also contribute to the development of production HMI and instrument-cluster experiences, working directly with Automotive SoCs like NXP i.MX8 and NVIDIA Drive CX.
You will play a central role in maintaining platform support across Android and embedded systems, focusing on the Android lifecycle and system services. Your work will involve deep technical engagement with large multithreaded codebases, ensuring that Unity's solutions are robust and high-performing. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall growth of the team.
